The legendary 10th dan Dutch judoka, Olympic champion and double world judo champion Anton Gesink is one of the greatest judokas of all time.
In 1964 he won the Olympic gold medal and shook the whole world, because with this victory he stopped the Japanese domination in judo, and during his active sporting career he won 21 European titles. Gesink remains one of the few 10th dan judokas officially recognized by the Judo Federation.
Anton Gesink began participating in the European Championships in 1951, and won his first title already in 1952. Eventually he won twenty more European titles while participating in these tournaments until 1967.
